In January 1999, WKSU's music director, David Roden, traveled with the Cleveland Orchestra during their winter European tour.

Every major orchestra tours. An orchestra with international stature has to tour internationally, and the Cleveland Orchestra has been visiting other countries since the George Szell era. The orchestra has often toured Europe, but this was their first visit to the Canary Islands.

During the tour, David filed his reports for both on-air and online distribution via the Internet. WKSU was one of the first public radio stations to cover an event this way.
